Learners have been urged to work hard, remain prayerful, and stay focused on their education, especially as they prepare for national examinations.
Speaking during a Sunday homily at Kangaru Boys High School in Embu, Rev. Fr. Isaiah Njiru, Principal of St. Augustine Teachers Training College (TTC) Ishiara and Assistant Priest at St. John the Apostle Kangaru Parish, reminded students that success requires sacrifice, discipline and determination.
Fr. Njiru said nothing good comes easily, urging the learners to avoid distractions and remain committed to their studies despite challenges.
“They need to work hard. Even when there are difficulties and challenges, one should put God first and have the desire to work hard. A bright future starts with the simple things done in school, and their performance will contribute to that,” he said.
He acknowledged the hard work of the learners and the sacrifices made by their teachers, encouraging the students to strive for excellence and make good use of the opportunities available to them.
The priest particularly encouraged Form Four candidates to intensify their preparations for the upcoming examinations while remaining prayerful and trusting in God.
Fr. Njiru also thanked the Kangaru Boys School leadership for providing a conducive environment that enables learners to study, grow and prepare for their future.
Young Catholic Students (YCS) Patron Faith Njagi urged the candidates and other learners to put God first, assuring them that there is a place for everyone beyond school if they make responsible choices and remain committed to doing what is right.
Assistant YCS Patron Denis Murimi challenged the learners to reject political manipulation and avoid being used as goons, instead calling on them to become instruments of peace in society.
The learners embraced the message, saying success requires working smart, discipline and putting God first.
Led by YCS Chairman Abel Danson Mutugi, they thanked Kangaru Parish for regularly celebrating Mass at the school, saying the services have helped nourish and strengthen their faith.
Fr. Njiru also encouraged the learners and professionals to consider pursuing Guidance and Psychological Counselling training, saying that the skills are important for addressing the challenges people face in today’s society.
